The Musée de la Gaspésie is proud to finally launch its new permanent exhibition, Where Worlds Meet, just in time for the start of the 2021 summer season. The result of several years of work for the Museum team and numerous collaborators from different backgrounds, Where Worlds Meet is a must-see you must include in your itinerary in the region.
You will be impressed by the creativity of this exhibition that includes mapping technology, animations, interactive art and original music. Presented in French and English, Where Worlds Meet, highlights the contribution of the three founding peoples to the creation of a diverse Gaspe.
Where Worlds Meet promises you a journey to the heart of Gaspe history as you have never seen it, from 380 million years before today to contemporary society. What if the Gaspe was rather the beginning of the world, and not the “end of the world”, as it is often referred to, or, according to the Mi’gmaq name Gespeg, “the end of the land” ? You will discover that thanks to its geographical position, the Gaspe peninsula has long been linked to the outside world, sometimes even brought to the fore, the ocean not being a barrier, but a veritable maritime route.
Among what awaits you: illustrated and animated scenes that are projected on the walls of the exhibition, multimedia islands and no less than 250 artefacts and archives, many of which have not been published yet. From moose hunting by the Mi’gmaqs to cod fishing, including the melodies of Madame Bolduc, you will discover various key moments in the history of the peninsula.
Book your visit at the Museum now and live an unexpected historical experience.
